While I do enjoy something store-bought, for Valentine’s Day, I feel like homemade gifts are extra special. I am definitely a “it’s the thought that counts” person. I like to consider myself thoughtful by nature, and I also like being creative and making things myself. I feel like I get to show that this person is really important to me because I am making the time to create their gift. How it turns out is a totally different story, and also where I hope that they are on the same spectrum of thoughtful gifts as me 🙂
Whether you’re looking for a gift for your Valentine or your Galentine, read on for some ideas that can be made at home and wrapped up with only your special and unique touch!
DIY Valentine’s Day gifts
These truffles are surprisingly easy to make. Back in my cake pop making days, I’d end up making truffles on accient when my “pops” were too dense and heavy to stay on the stick, and so I learned to just run with it. But you can never go wrong with homemade truffles.
I’ve made a few of these for myself and have given plenty out for gifts, but these are just so easy to make and can be packaged so well! You could even make a small batch and make it a lip scrub, but the recipe below has been my go-to body scrub recipe for a larger jar:
- 1/2 cup of white or brown sugar
- 1/2 cup of coconut oil (you can also use coconut oil
- Essential Oil (optional) – My favorites are lavender or eucalyptus
- In the photo above, I also added a bit of red food coloring to make it more festive
Chocolate Covered Strawberries
I LOVE chocolate covered strawberries, for any occasion really, but I love how abundant they are during Valentine’s Day! These can definitely be made ahead of time and put in the fridge until they’re ready to be served! Here is an easy recipe for you to follow 🙂
This is something I have yet to try myself, but I’m definitely planning on trying since I am a tad bit obsessed with bath bombs. I love how luxurious they make my skin feel and how they really upgrade your bath experience. I’m going to try this particular recipe since it’s Valentine’s themed, and who wouldn’t enjoy a little bubbly for the tub?
For the man (or woman) who loves them some beer, I absolutely love this idea. Pinterest is littered with different ways to do this, but this idea is by far my favorite.
Lottery Ticket Bouquet
This is a bit on the cheesy side but I do love scratchers, and the chance of winning just up’s the excitement! You can attach them to sticks with some candy as a base as done here, and voila! Who knows, you or your honey could be the next millionaire…
I love the idea of a homemade massage oil because you control the ingredients in it, and can therefore consider any skin sensitivities. This can also double as a body oil so a win all around! Definitely a sensual gift that is hopefully used more than once! The recipe I used for the massage oil pictured below was adapted from this recipe, though I did not have time to infuse the herbs this time unfortunately.
