I can’t believe in 3 weeks (give or take), our baby boy will be here. This pregnancy just flew by, and I can’t believe that soon I’ll be able to hold this being that’s been kicking me all day and night.. in my arms.
I’ve been neglecting this blog lately due to scheduling conflicts – i.e. my toddler and my job. Work has been crazy, trying to transition and make sure everything is okay before I leave.. then coming home to a very needy 19 month old. Leaves very little time for reflection. But as my maternity leave is fast approaching (one more day!), I wanted to take the time to look back on how my pregnancy has been so far since my last update (11 weeks ago). **WARNING: Some of the information I’m sharing may be TMI so at least you’ve been warned!**
How far along? 37 weeks and 3 days
How big is the peanut? According to my Ovia app, he is about 19 inches tall and weighs about 6 pounds (the size of a head of a honeydew melon)
Total weight gain/loss? I think I’ve gained almost 30 lbs, POSSIBLY 35. I haven’t been tracking my weight as much.. I’ve just been trusting that my doc will let me know if I’ve reached a bad weight or if I’ve gained too much weight too quickly (luckily she’s said my trajectory has been great so far).
Maternity clothes? I think around the 33 or 34 week mark, I gave up on maternity jeans because I was just SO uncomfortable. I’ve been happily rocking my various maternity leggings from Target and my Blanqi leggings. I also bought a few supportive tank tops and tees from Target because the weather finally changed into something less depressing! The tank tops especially have been on rotation every day. They provide such great support along with the leggings that it makes it easier to move around and walk.
Sleep? This last trimester, the pregnancy insomnia has definitely hit. While I can generally fall asleep pretty easily, I’ll wake up at 3 am for not reason, and it takes 1-2 hours to fall back asleep! Needless to say, I’m not getting as much asleep as I’d like.
Best moment this week? Just finalizing everything at work and seeing the finish line! I can’t wait to (somewhat) sleep in when I’m on maternity, and just take things easy until the baby comes, instead of always rushing to get to work.
Symptoms? Aside from the insomnia, I’ve been having some pain in my ahem, lower area.. and my inner thighs. According to google (because ya know, thats my doctor), I think I have SPD – Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction. I’ve been having symptoms on and off since maybe I was 5 months along, but it started to get much worse in the last few weeks. Turns out, some of the things I was doing was making my symptoms worse, so I tried to avoid doing those things, like holding my daughter for too long or sitting with my legs too wide apart (which I do to make room for my belly), and just trying to rest more. It’s been pretty painful at night too when I try to turn over, but in the past few days I think I’ve improved. The pain is still there but not as cringeworthy as it’s been.
Food cravings? Nothing out of the ordinary.. Since the weather has been warm, I’ve been wanting mochi ice cream in particular… but really any ice cream has been making me happy lately haha
Food aversions? Still not a huge fan of Vietnamese food unfortunately..
Gender? We found out it was a boy when I was only 14 weeks. I HAD to mentally prepare myself because I had a feeling it was a boy, and I feel like I don’t know what I’m going to do!
Labor signs? Haven’t had any signs, though my doctor doesn’t think I’ll make it to my due date. My belly is pretty large right now.. eek.
Belly button in or out? It’s out now, it was inevitable with the way baby boy kicks and stretches against my belly button!
What I miss? I miss being able to pick up Faith and not worrying how much she’s squishing my belly. I miss WINE and OYSTERS and SANDWICHES and SUSHI **Insert crying emoji here** (This was the same as my 26 week post, and not much has changed – though I also miss the use of my core muscles and just being to bend down and move around more!)
What I’m looking forward to? Seeing Faith become a big sister, and getting to hold this baby who’s constantly kicking me, in my arms. Also drinking wine, eating oysters, sandwiches, and sushi as mentioned above. (also same as my 26 week update)
Milestones? At 37 weeks, I’ve hit what is officially considered full term, so baby could arrive any day now and be okay… Though I’m hoping he stays in as long as possible so he’s fully “baked” lol The last few weeks I’ve been getting nicer unsolicited compliments than I did during my second trimester, which has been nice. I think the weather has made me feel happier and maybe LOOK happier? It’s a possibility. Either way, I’m just glad that we made it this far and all seems to be good..
Bump? My bump is still huge, but luckily I don’t feel like it’s getting any bigger. It supposedly should not get any bigger, but I do feel him dropping a bit so it’s taking its toll on my walk/waddle lol
