Last Mother’s Day, I was waking up to roses and gifts from my husband, with a cute little card from him and Baby D. This year, I woke up to hydrangeas, and my husband carrying Baby D. It’s still so surreal to me that she’s here. It’s true what they say, “The days are long and the years are short.” Faith is growing so fast, getting heavier each day, and it still hasn’t hit me that I’m her mama. I do my best to never take any moment with her for granted, and to appreciate every nuance of her growing personality, no matter what time of day (or night) it is.
We celebrated by Irwin letting me go back to sleep for a few more hours, then he picked up breakfast and we enjoyed brunch at home in our PJs. The weather wasn’t that great, so we didn’t go anywhere except to my in-laws. I had wanted to head out to Napa for a picnic, but the weather didn’t agree with my plans so we figured we’d do that another time. Faith also managed to cut her finger mysteriously, and I freaked out a bit that it didn’t stop bleeding after a couple hours. Aside from that, it was a nice, mellow weekend, ending with the latest episode of Game of Thrones.
