My department moved to a different building a couple week’s ago, and I discovered that the new elevator was the perfect place to take selfies (when I’m alone obviously.. cuz, that would just be awkward if someone else were on the elevator with me). I never seem to remember to take outfit posts before work, and its hard to get my photographer (::coughIrwincough::) to take my picture after work. SO, this will have to do for now. The black outfit was something I’d been finding the occasion to wear. I’d been feeling nostalgic lately (read: nineties basics), and I fell in love with the garter leggings from Nasty Gal, and coincidentally found the exact same version at a cheaper price from Forever21. There was a birthday party going on in the Mission on Friday night, and I thought this was the perfect place to debut the leggings. Finding a way to make it seem less slut-tastic was difficult, but with Uri’s help I kept everything else toned down, stuck with black, and wore my favorite Jeffrey Campbell Leopard Pixie wedges.
My (not little anymore) cousin, Lyssa, graduated from San Jose State University on Saturday. We headed over to San Jose to celebrate her big accomplishment with the rest of the familia. And by celebrate I mean Jameson with the cousins. That’s always fun. I managed to hold up pretty well, and surpassed Stephanie this time (hehe). It also gave me an occasion to wear my go-to all white ensemble which I felt was appropriate for Memorial Weekend, as well as bust out my favorite accessories. All in all, it was nice to see the family again, especially the cuzzo’s.
When in doubt, I consult my bff, Uri, on what to wear for an evening out. She suggested the all white look that she’d been fond of lately, for Jay’s (Irwin’s cousin) birthday party at Jones SF. I couldn’t resist adding a touch of black just to give it some sass, but I was absolutely loving this look that night. A more fresh look from my usual go-to of the all black ensemble. The venue itself was pretty awesome, and the weather was still nice that evening so everyone was out on the rooftop, just mingling. I wish I had taken a picture of it, however, I managed to take a picture of the only bathroom poster hanging on the wall. It was.. interesting. What can I say.
I turned 29 over the weekend. Woah. The years are just flying now. I feel like I just turned 26 at LEAST. Anyway, it was a birthday that exceeded my expectations. For one, my bestest friends in the WHOLE world flew in from out of town to celebrate with me, and if that was all I had to look forward to, I would’ve died from happiness. Kat and Chris flew in Friday night, and we picked them up and took them to our friend’s house party near Ocean Beach. It was an interesting night, and Kat counted down till it was midnight, or was the first to wish me a Happy Birthday! Uri flew in Saturday morning (my actual birthday), and it was non-stop from the moment I picked her up. I took her to get some fuel for the busy day ahead, a mint mojito from Philz Coffee, then picked up a couple boxes of Cheeseboard to-go. Went home to change and eat before we got our hair and nails done. I had been wanting to get a blow out done for a while now, and I figured what better time to do it than when my bff was in town. We also tried gel manicures for the first time which was awesome, and then not so awesome for Uri because it turns out the white gel polish they had was not meant for all over color.. it was meant for french mani’s. After our mani’s we practically sprinted to the blow dry bar for our appointment, and the ladies were really nice about us being 20 minutes late. I decided to go with side swept hair to go with my french-inspired outfit for the evening, and I really loved it!
