An (Early) Christmas Gift
Just before we got to celebrate the one year mark of being parents, I found out I was pregnant. It was a mixture of excitement and supreme panic. The next thing I saw was a countdown.. of our alone time with Faith. We were ecstatic and a bit in disbelief that it happened so fast, I felt like I couldn't fully grasp that I was pregnant while I had another little person to take care of.
And then the first trimester symptoms began. I was fortunate to not have experienced any morning sickness with Faith. In general, my pregnancy was pretty smooth, and I just figured it could only go downhill from there. But I experienced the same symptoms I did with Faith this time around: extreme fatigue and some food aversions. The fatigue was worse just because Faith still won't let me sleep at night and I couldn't relax as much (i.e. AT ALL). So it was a real struggle just trying to go day to day, while also transitioning into a new position at work. And also planning and going through Faith's first birthday.
Exactly 6 days after I entered the second trimester though, I woke up and I felt AMAZING. I cleaned the house, we took Faith for a long walk to the grocery store, and I just felt so great overall. It was such a relief, especially since the holidays were approaching.
I'm not sure why, but I was anxious to find out the gender early this time, whereas I waited till the 20 week anatomy ultrasound to find out, though I could've easily waited till she was born to find out but Irwin couldn't wait. We went to this place at 14 weeks and it confirmed what I felt it was. I was right on guessing for both of them, which is pretty incredible. I had a feeling around 6-8 weeks for each.
We're so excited to grow our family, and we've been trying to talk to Faith about having a baby brother but she doesn't fully understand yet. I think she'll be too young to fully understand until the baby is here, but I can't wait to see her become a big sister.
