I had originally wanted to make these cupcakes for our Holiday Munchies at work, but thought that it might take too much time (which I did not have since it was a week before Christmas). So I waited for the next opportunity to do this, and thanks to Renee, I was able to bring this to their annual White Elephant/Potluck party... which, fortunately was a couple weeks after Christmas. It took a whole Saturday to make this, as every part of this cupcake required actually creating the caramel from scratch- which I have never made before. I have to say, I've never been more proud of any cupcakes I've made until now. They looked amazing, and the taste was perfect.
