The things I remember Solvang by were the pastries, and the European style buildings. It's such a small town, it only took a day to walk around the entire "village". Rain (and sometimes hail) and sun were alternating on Saturday when we ventured into town, but it was actually really nice to just walk around and enjoy something that you don't get to see everyday. Naturally I picked up as many pastries as I could carry (Olsen's Bakery was my favorite), along with a bottle of wine and some Tobasco chocolate (good.. but, weird). And though we were tired from exploring, it was St. Patty's Day and we couldn't just stay in. So we sucked it up, took a shot of Jameson (sans parents) and walked back into town to join the festivities... in the only two bars that existed - the Solvang Brewing Company and the Mandarin Touch. We ended up staying at the Mandarin Touch (on the left in the last photo below) because the crowd was a lot more fun and lively. The live band was surprisingly good, and it was just fun people watching. I woke up the next morning not remembering anything after we got back to the timeshare, but I know I had a good time. And that's all that matters. Wish I had some pastries with me now.
