Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in mommyhood, adulthood, and food. Hope you have a nice stay!

Last Year of my 20's

I turned 29 over the weekend. Woah. The years are just flying now. I feel like I just turned 26 at LEAST. Anyway, it was a birthday that exceeded my expectations. For one, my bestest friends in the WHOLE world flew in from out of town to celebrate with me, and if that was all I had to look forward to, I would've died from happiness. Kat and Chris flew in Friday night, and we picked them up and took them to our friend's house party near Ocean Beach. It was an interesting night, and Kat counted down till it was midnight, or was the first to wish me a Happy Birthday! Uri flew in Saturday morning (my actual birthday), and it was non-stop from the moment I picked her up. I took her to get some fuel for the busy day ahead, a mint mojito from Philz Coffee, then picked up a couple boxes of Cheeseboard to-go. Went home to change and eat before we got our hair and nails done. I had been wanting to get a blow out done for a while now, and I figured what better time to do it than when my bff was in town. We also tried gel manicures for the first time which was awesome, and then not so awesome for Uri because it turns out the white gel polish they had was not meant for all over color.. it was meant for french mani's. After our mani's we practically sprinted to the blow dry bar for our appointment, and the ladies were really nice about us being 20 minutes late. I decided to go with side swept hair to go with my french-inspired outfit for the evening, and I really loved it!

We drove back home, got ready, and went straight to Koh Samui and the Monkey to meet the rest of my dear friends for dinner. It was my first time there, and I just remember sitting at the head of the table (there were conveniently 9 of us, so we fit perfectly in the small restaurant), and thinking how lucky I was that my best friends were able to come out and make the day even more special. It was also the first time that they were really meeting and getting to know each other, and I was just.. on cloud 9. Oh, and the birthday cake from Copenhagen bakery in Burlingame... Oh. My. God. It was seriously heaven. Irwin surprised me with it because I don't usually like store bought cake (they're too sweet), but this.. was just a whole new level of deliciousness. I have found my new favorite bakery!

After dinner, we went to the bar, John Collins, which was conveniently only about 3 or 4 blocks away from the restaurant. My friend, Astra, works at that bar and was able to get a table for me and my friends, and it was just so much fun to see everyone there. I managed to not get too wasted.. I wanted to remember that night! My cousins came out too which made me so happy, and then we pretty much drank and stayed till last call. I woke up the next morning without a hangover (woohoo!) and Uri thought she may still be drunk haha. Her parents came to pick her up and I was so sad. But at least we felt good that we took advantage of the time she was here, and I was so grateful that she was able to come. I started having withdrawals after that, and because I was also missing Janelle and Kat, and then Ai of course, since she's in Japan and couldn't fly out here just for a weekend. But thank you to my lovely friends for coming out, and of course to my love for always making my birthday so special. Love love love.
